【摘要】:Themoisturecontentofactivatedcarbonisoftenrequiredtodefineandexpressitspropertiesinrelationtothenetweightofthecarbon.Themoisturecontentofactivatedcarbonpackedintypicalshippingcontainerswillusuallyincreaseduringtransportationandstorage.Usersofactivatedcarboninapplicationswherelowmoisturecontentisimportantshouldbeawareofthiseffect.1.1Thesetestmethodsprovidetwoproceduresforthedeterminationofthemoisturecontentofactivatedcarbon.Theproceduresmayalsobeusedtodrysamplesrequiredforothertests.Theoven-dryingmethodisusedwhenwateristheonlyvolatilematerialpresentandisinsignificantquantities,andtheactivatedcarbonisnotheat-sensitive(someactivatedcarbonscanignitespontaneouslyattemperaturesaslowas150C).Thexylene-extractionmethodisusedwhenacarbonisknownorsuspectedtobeheatsensitiveortocontainnonwater-miscibleorganiccompoundsinsteadoforinadditiontowater.Theoven-dryingmethoddescribedinthesetestmethodsmaybeusedasthereferencefordevelopmentofinstrumentaltechniquesformoisturedeterminationinactivatedcarbon.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
