【摘要】:Plutoniumdioxideisusedinmixtureswithuraniumdioxideasanuclear-reactorfuel.Inordertobesuitableforthispurpose,thematerialmustmeetcertaincriteriaforplutoniumcontent,isotopiccomposition,andimpuritycontent.ThesetestmethodsaredesignedtoshowwhetherornotagivenmaterialmeetsthespecificationsfortheseitemsasdescribedinSpecificationC757.3.1.1Anassayisperformedtodeterminewhetherthematerialhastheminimumplutoniumcontentspecifiedonadryweightbasis.3.1.2Determinationoftheisotopiccontentoftheplutoniumintheplutoniumdioxidepowderismadetoestablishwhethertheeffectivefissilecontentisincompliancewiththepurchaser’specifications.3.1.3Impuritycontentisdeterminedtoensurethatthemaximumconcentrationlimitofcertainimpurityelementsisnotexceeded.Determinationofimpuritiesisalsorequiredforcalculationoftheequivalentboroncontent(EBC).1.1Thesetestmethodscoverproceduresforthechemical,massspectrometric,andspectrochemicalanalysisofnuclear-gradeplutoniumdioxidepowdersandpelletstodeterminecompliancewithspecifications.1.2Theanalyticalproceduresappearinthefollowingorder:1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionarystatements,seeSections6,15,24,111,and52.9and101.5.1.
